You Know You Grew Up in India in the 90s When…

1) You know the words to ‘In-pin-safety-pin’ and ‘akkad-bakkad’ by heart
2) Cricket is almost a religion for you, and you idolize at least one of Rahul Dravid/Sachin Tendulkar/Saurav Ganguly
3) You have read at least some Chacha Chaudhary or Tinkle comics
4) You’ve watched Shaktimaan on TV at least once in your life. And you can immediately recognize the character when you see him.
5) You have some ‘NRI’ relatives.
6) You couldn’t wait for it to be December so you could have the Toblerone chocolates your NRI relatives brought you
7) You watched Cartoon Network, and then the late night movies on TNT that came after Cartoon Network ended.
8) You watched corny dubbed versions of Small Wonder, Silver Spoon, and I Dream of Jeanie

32) You remember the Gujarat earthquake very clearly and could possibly tell everyone EXACTLY what you were doing when the earthquake occurred (yes, this happened in 2001, January 26, 2001, to be exact — but this group is about the things that Indian kids that GREW UP in the 90s remember and identify with).
33) Barbies for girls, and GI Joes for boys were the ultimate status symbols. You just wanted more more more and more. And how can I forget Hot Wheels, for both boys and girls?

59) When all backpacks (or ’schoolbags’) and water bottles and tiffin boxes had strange cartoon characters that were hybrid versions of seven or eight different characters, and you still bought them, because a green man wih a water pistol, boots, a jet-pack, Johnny bravo hair, a rajasthani mustache, gloves, and underwear (long johns) over his pants, called ‘Mr. X’ was OBVIOUSLY a status symbol.

Memory - The dairy that we all carry with us..

This is happening again... Thinking wat??? Its me going through old mails or chats and getting lost in thoughts and memories.. N then the usual.. b in mixed feeling.. upset abt few things n happy abt few things :) :)

Few weeks back i was just deleting some old mails in gmail account.. And today was doing the same in office outlook.. Found some mails where few things were shared... Few of them made me smile and few cried (okie.. nt literally cry.. But i was almost in that state).. And few of them kept me wondering.. How much ever i tried i cudnt delete them.. Finally ended up deleting most of the forwards..

And its during this time i askd myself are these mails (or say memories) worth keeping?? I still dont know the answer to this.. You might say keep the ones which u feel r worth remembering.. But hw do u decide that.. based on wat?? Shud i keep the ones that make me smile or the ones that make me sad.. some1 has said it right - "Memories play a confusing role. They make u laugh when u remember the time u cried and make you cry when u remember the time u laughed" (It was an sms sent by some1 :P )

When i find something that makes me happy i smile but next moment i wil b sad thinking that this wil never come back again.. And when i come across some incident or moments that makes me sad i wil get full upset and sometimes after that wil b a bit happy that i had those moments cz that wud hv brought some change in me or taught me some lesson... I hv moments that i hated the most and wished they had never come in my life and moments that were so close to my heart that i always wished that life wud stay stil at that moment..

In any case, its difficult to get rid of these memories.. happy or sad, we need to live with them.. But i just wished it wudnt haunt as at the wrong time.. Wish we had ctrl over them :) :)

Ending Note - "Memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose". (Found this on net.. Would like to add "Memory is a way of holding onto ur past which is mixture of happy and sad moments")

My life at Bcone and SAP Labs

Last 2 weeks in SAP labs and 3 weeks in Bcone (Short for Bristlecone India Ltd) and then i am out of the company where i started my professional career.. So just writing my experience here..

June 25th.. The day i started my professional journey.. I had entered the office with the thought that this might b the end of clg life (carefree and fun ) and start of serious life with new responsibilities.. The 1st day didnt change my thinking.. There i was sitting in the seminar hall listening to every1 coming and talkin about the company, the work, the finance etc etc... n I almost slept by end of the day.. And was thinkin if i am really going to work.. :P :P

It didnt take much time for me to know that i might be out of clg but that fun life has not ended :D :D Our 1 month training outside the office was for our advantage.. More than learning we just had fun.. The tea breaks, lunch breaks, Playing UNO cards, n fightings... All are the best memories of my life..

After that the 1 month was also our fun didnt end.. The nly thing we knew was to do masti.. n back in bcone v found few other batchmates who joined us in our masti.. our group was known as the energetic group in office.. n seeing us participating in all events even the seniors joined us..

Then it was time for us to actually start working.. Nly then did we realise that we need to get bit serious.. wen v were nt able to get into any proj n one by one others in the gang started getting into proj.. And then i got into project and my life at SAP Labs started..

1st proj was hardly for 9 months.. And i didnt learn much w.r.t work.. But otherwise i learnt a bit seriousness :P :P Its with this team of ppl i learnt that to prove urself u need to work very hard and learnt to 1st think abt myself and then abt others.. And i was also tld hw i need to change my behaviour a bit.. And every1 dnt take the same meaning frm behaviour...

Then in september i joined Hosting team.. And back to the fun life along wid fun work.. Professionally i learnt loads of things.. obvious that i dnt want to list them out here.. But other than work also my life was fun.. cz my initial was back together.. but few differences had come between them.. i never understood why.. Me n deepu wud always try to make every1 b together.. And then few frnds moved back to bcone.. Time for me to  realise one more thing.. That every1 cant stay together for always.. By then we had completed 2 yrs of professional life.. Slowly every1 started moving out of bcone.. As each 1 went i became more and more silent.. And more sad.. And due to few fights i had with my close frnd.. My life became a mess.. I was confused abt everything.. abt wat i want to do in life.. wat is it that i am doin wrong that everything is a mess.. And slowly i started sorting out one by one.. and doin this i had to remove few frnds frm my life.. avoid few frnds.. It wasnt easy thing to do.. If i think abt that i still feel bad.. But i had to do it..

And tdy after 3 yrs of professional life i am moving to HP.. hoping to find new learnings.. new environment.. new way of leading life..

In these 3 yrs i experienced everything.. fun, pressure, fights, arguing, responsibility, communicating with others, building relationship, breaking few relations, became mentally strong, learnt to say NO for few things,  and more than everything i gained self confidence and learnt to be myself without bothering abt wat others think abt me.. And i am happy with the way i am nw.. there is still lots i need to change.. And going to HP is a step towards the change.. And hope everything works :) :) :)

Prince :) :)

Dnt get confused by the title.. I am nt goin to talk abt some prince in my life or prince of my dreams.. This blog is abt one of my close frnd whose nickname is prince ( Nt sure y.. n dnt kno who calls him prince :P )

Tdy i just decided to start writing everyday.. n was just thinkin wat do i write abt.. n just then this guy pings me n i askd him to suggest a topic.. n he just replied one word "ME" :) :) So this spl blog dedicated to Pavan, the prince :)

September 2008 - My 2nd project in Sap Labs.. It was 1st week in the work n i didnt kno any1 frm the team.. I dnt remember if i was introduced to him on 1st day.. but then 1 day saw him near pantry n my thought was "nice guy but seems to b having too much attitude".. I didnt kno he was frm same team.. Then i get to kno he is assigned as mentor to amitabh n my mentor was soujanya.. But since soujanya was busy with some work me n amitabh both wud ask pavan.. He was very helpful.. V hardly interacted for few weeks.. 1 day he suddenly comes n tells that the coming week he was leaving SAP. I can say i was bit sad as i wanted to know him. Well that was the end of my working days with pavan.

By this time i had added him in orkut. But had not spoken to him for long time after he left. After he left i was made to sit in his cubicle.. and one day i got his email id from Kamal (Another sweet frnd of pavan and me).. Thats hw i actually started talkin to pavan.. Nt as mentor and mentee.. But as frnds :) :)

I remember that just that time he had started a community for his frnd's group in tumkur - Union of Rebels.. He wud always talk abt the group and frnds.. it was nice to listen to him.. Infact the community he created was so interesting that i too wanted to join them.. (Unfortunately i cudnt :( ) N then we started chatting everyday and my 1st impression abt this stupid guy was changed.. he was very frndly n i cud talk to him anything.. We would talk abt anything and everything.. N it use to be fun time... Wondering y i used past tense?? well nw v dnt talk so much like before.. But we are still the same old frnds.. nothing has changed between us.. just that we ran out of topics to talk abt :P :P :P

In short i can say i was happy to meet this guy, to bcum his frnd, to kno him.. Sometimes talks a lot, sometimes doesnt even bother to start a conversation, Moody and gets bored easily.. And very frndly.. U dnt hv to talk to him everyday to make sure that u stay his frnd always.. :) :)

Thats abt my sweet stupid frnd Pavan.. With whom i share almost everything that happens in my life.. Let it b professional or personal  i am comfortable talkin to him abt it... :) :)

@Pavan : I dnt kno if u lik this or nt.. But thats abt u in my words.. I am waiting for ur feedback :P :P :P But ya its true that u r my sweet frnd and i always want u to stay like that.. Better be okie?? :)

After long time

Decided to blog again after a very long time.. but here i am still thinking abt wat do i blog abt..

let me write abt the novel i recently read.. or novels i read.. Read all 4 series of twilight saga - twilight, new moon, eclipse and break of the dawn.. Wat did i like in these 4 novels?? everything.. :)

The way the story is written.. it keeps u hooked to the book til the end.. the love between edward n bella.. n relationship between bella and jacob.. everything abt it was nice.. few parts were boring.. but on the whole a gud book.. much much better compared to the movies..

Wen i was readin the book i just had 1 thought in mind - Wish i too had one of those rare qualities those vampires had.. life wud hv been wonderful :) :)

And the bonding between them was also too gud..

I dnt kno if i wud go to such extent like bella if i fall in luv.. may b i wud if i find the rt kind of guy :D :D

Well thats al i can write for nw.. i kno this blog might just luk like a mess of sentences or words or watever.. but its just few of my thoughts which i really cant put into proper words :)
